The Year We Break Up with Our Phones

I am ready, and I think you are too.

Are we though?

Yeah, we are.

For years we have been inodiated with videos, memes, instruction, health information, global news, local news, fake news, real news, AI info, do this, don’t do this, do that, honestly, I don’t even know what is REAL at this point?

It’s stimulation overload and we are drowning in cell phone overload.

All of this is keeping us in a constant state of stress, panic and survival mode. The time we are living in right now is so incredibly different than it was even just 19 years ago, before the smart phones/iPhones came out in 2007.

Remember when we used to actually call people on the phone? Speak to our friends and family members voice to ear on a phone? Or actually go to a friend’s house and have coffee and chat for a couple of hours, like in person?

Remember when we had to actually leave the house to get food, groceries, therapy sessions, clothes, medicine, or even a Doctor’s appointment?

Remember when we actually enjoyed being with people on a soul level? (even if it was only for an hour, I get it.)

What happened?

Why are we so disconnected from real life stuff and our community?

Why do we spend countless hours “doom scrolling” on our phones? What do we get out of it? Sure, we may learn something, like a new technique or a discover a new way to do your workout, or find a new product to use, but what about all the other nonsense that we take in on a daily basis?

I know, there is a LOT of funny stuff on social media, but there is also a lot of low vibrational doom and gloom posts which seem to heavily outweigh the uplifting posts.

And we don’t even know if what we are watching is actually TRUE, like at all!

Do you realize how many emotions we experience in just 5 minutes of scrolling on social media? You can be cracking up laughing until you have tears coming out of your eyes from watching one reel, and in the next post you will be bawling your eyes out because someone risked their life to save an animal in need, then there are the conspiracy theories that tell us the world is ending from a solar flare or a comet in our solar system, or there’s a new disease we all need to worry about, or food recalls, deaths, ahhhhhh…it’s awful! Its too much and its way too overstimulating which can cause anxiety, overwhelm and stress in our bodies.

I know most of these are real life stories and real issues going on in the world, but as humans we really get invested in everyone else’s problems, and that can be a LOT for us to carry on a daily basis. I watched an 84 year old grandma get arrested because she didn’t realize she had hit a person in a parking lot on a social media video. Now I’m worried about her and the person she injured. I’m carrying that around with me now, and why? Why do I need to hold this in my energy? I don’t, but it’s there now and I need to clear it out so it doesn’t take up space that I need to have for MY family and MY friends, not the strangers on the internet.

It’s a choice to be on your phone or not. We can interact with social media or not. We are in control of what we do with our time.

People are looking for real connections right now.
Times are changing back to real engagement and the embodiment of human connections.

The world needs so much healing. People just want to be “seen” and “heard” and by having a social media page with 3K+ followers isn’t how its going to work. Have you ever noticed how empty most peoples pages are, even if they have over 1K+ followers? Most don’t even get more than 20 likes on a post, how is that possible? When you have over a thousand people who “support” you? It’s not real, its not a healthy reality of what support represents honestly.

People are wanting to travel, visit friends, explore, take a class, learn something new, do something out of their comfort zone, get excited about life again!

People are craving the HUMAN experience again!

The more we doom scroll, the faster we lose time, we create less memories, we become numb to pain, numb to death and suffering, we lose our creativity, and we aren’t living!

It’s time to LIVE again!

It’s time to get outside again and go on long walks, get in the sunshine, laugh, explore nature again, go camping, fishing, there is so much you can do to elevate your energy levels and your mood. Get your chakras rebalanced by experiencing the life in front of you again. Get dirty in the garden, get sweaty from working outside, paint a wall or two, get creative again and expand yourself outwardly!

Embrace YOUR energy and YOUR gifts and sit in that for awhile. Be present with yourself and see what you’ve been missing. Really listen to your family and friends, see them in a fresh light of the here and now.

It is time. Time to shine and really embrace the now without a phone in your hand 24/7.
